Activiti is published by the producer of ECM, Alfresco, which wanted to develop an alternative to jBPM for its own purposes. In electing to make it a stand-alone component, Alfresco is banking on the dynamic nature of open source (the product has been handed over to the Spring community) and aims to make it the benchmark for open source BPM. Technically, Activiti is at the cutting edge and enjoys excellent dynamics thanks to the widespread popularity of its sponsor.
Today, Activiti is a lightweight, robust BPM engine. Its youth makes it better suited as a BPM brick integrated with more complex projects, as is the case at Alfresco, for example. Activiti does however boast user-friendly process design interfaces that allow functional and technical teams to work together on process modelling. Nonetheless, its actual implementation necessarily requires a solid technical background.
Activiti is published under the Apache License and is developed in Java.

“ Useless. Cet outil qui en principe devrait être exploitable depuis un quelconque pc, se trouve requérir l'installation de java + eclipse + activiti + tomcat...normal en somme. Le serveur de production Alfresco n'est pas une plateforme de développement en principe donc tout cet attirail a été installé sur un pc indépendant. out ça juste pour sortir un misérabe modèle de workflow. il faut monter une usine à gaz. Pourquoi ne pas avoir intégré ce plug in dans Alfresco. Décevant. ”

“ Ce moteur peut être mise en œuvre avec unique la présence un JDK et un éditeur. Des compétences techniques concernant Java et BPMN sont requises. C'est très intéressant si l'on veut se soustraire de tous les logiciels BPMN intégré. ”
