Phraseanet was developed by the company Alchemy in 2005. The applications code became Open Source in summer 2010.
The software allows comprehensive management of photo libraries and media. It consists of seven functional interfaces that allow it to adapt to different types of use. These interfaces also allow for more opportunities of use.
Indexing documents is done using the thesaurus module. A collaborative interface is used for the validation of documents. A system of baskets and reporting allows the opportunity of selecting documents from the database and exporting them in various formats.
Phraseanet is developed in PHP and is also built from open source components - MySQL, PHP, Apache. An open and documented API is available for developers. Among the main references of this software in France is TF1 or France Television. The application is also available in SaaS mode.

“ Bonjour, Je travaille au quotidien sur Phraséanet, depuis 2009. J'ai depuis très récemment la dernière version du logiciel et je dois avouer que c'est un véritable plaisir de travailler chaque jour avec. Le logiciel est fluide, dynamique, intuitif. L'apparence est esthétiquement très réussie, ça fait aussi partie de l'attractivité du logiciel. Je suis à la fois client et administrateur et navige aisément de l'une à l'autre des interfaces. J'ai peu de reproche à faire...voire aucun ! ”
