Liferay named as leader in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant” for horizontal portals

The portal solution Liferay has been named leader in the horizontal portals category by the company Gartner.

Gartner believes that Liferay continues to grow in its segment. In recent years, social functions, collaboration and integration of applications have been added to the basic portal functionality. Moreover, the portal adapts to heterogeneous environments. Liferay also offers a collaborative suite (Liferay Social Office), a tool for sharing files (Liferay Sync) and Liferay IDE (an extension on the Eclipse platform that supports the development of plug-in projects for the Liferay portal).

To justify their choice, the company highlights the number of customers satisfied with the highly in demand solution. Gartner also noted that the company has been experiencing double-digit growth for some time now in terms of sales, customers and employees. Customers praise the easy deployment and integration of this flexible and scalable solution.

The next version of Liferay (6.2) is due out in late October in Community Edition. Many developments are in store, which are already testable with the beta version.
